When I started writing for publication, I decided to keep an idea notebook. I didn't have any real reason for this, other than that I had heard that it was a good idea and was something that "serious writers" did, and I was going to be a "serious writer," so I obviously needed one.
The cool thing is that once I started carrying around a notebook for my thoughts and ideas, I found it to be really helpful. I lost so many flashes of insight in the past, because by the time I got around to writing them down, the minutiae of life had shoved them aside. But I know not everyone does this, and I'm curious about you guys.
I have a small booklet in my purse that I jot things down on, and a journal that I keep next to my bed for recording my dreams or any other thoughts that occur to me while I'm at home.
How about you? Do you jot, or not?

Friday Favorites: COMPUTERS!
My computer died sometime overnight on Monday. It worked - albeit grudgingly, moaning and groaning and generally acting like the crotchety 5-years-ancient thing that it was - Monday evening, but when we tried to turn it on Tuesday morning, nothing.
So: I need a new one. And as we have already established, I am a Twenty-First Century Caveperson.
So, A SURVEY! Because you guys are the best, and because you all probably know way more about this stuff than I do. Also, the Hubster and the F-i-L know lots, but they also have to spend hours and hours tinkering and tweaking, and I do not want to do that, so do I really want to trust them? Hmmm. I think not.
First: Mac or PC? If PC, what make/brand/whatever? Intel i3, or dual-core processor?
Second: Hate it, Like it, Love it?
Third: Best thing about your computer?
Fourth: Worst thing about your computer?
That's it! four little qustions. (Okay, that first one was a doozy. Sorry about that. But it was all necesary.) Can you guys help a gal out? Pretty please?
Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites: Writing Snacks
NaNoPiBoNaNoPiBoNaNoPiBoNaNoPiBoNaNo......
Yeah. The drive to create has taken over. And who can create without brain food?
So I thought I'd conduct an informal survey amongst my writerly bloggy-friends, and find out what everyone keeps their mouths happy with while their fingers are busy typing away. I'm trying to be healthy while my butt is glued to my desk chair, so I'm switching it up by munching tortilla chips with salsa (YUM!) or guacamole (double YUM!), or snacking on dried fruit and nuts (also YUM!), or chewing gum (makes my jaw hurt after a couple of pages).
(Yes, I just marked time by the number of pages typed. Oy.)
How about you? What is your writing snack of choice?
