It's Valentine's Day: What Are You Writing?

Ahhh, Valentine's Day. The official start of thinking about spring, birdsong, and green grass. At least, for me. And this means I've got picture book ideas about birds and bunnies and flowers floating around my brain.

It made me wonder: do your ideas change with the seasons? Do you find yourself writing about Easter-y stuff in the spring and hot beaches in the summer and Jack-O-Lanterns and apple pie in the fall? I do. At least, when it comes to my PBs, that's usually where my head is.

How about you?

  1. Hmm, sometimes. But holdiays and celebrations don't make me want to write. Seasonal changes do! :o)

  2. Not a whole lot. I bet it would if I wrote PBs.

  3. Oddly enough, I don't. I get my head in a project idea, and that's where it stays until I move on, regardless. :-)

  4. Jessica, I get inspired by seasonal changes, too. Noticing changes in the weather just kind of gives my brain a wake-up call, you know?

Lotusgirl, probably. I don't get new novel ideas based on the holidays at all - all my holiday-themed ideas are for PBs.

Shannon, I admire your focus. Maybe it will rub off!

  5. I definitely get inspired or at least influenced by season changes and holidays. It depends on my mood, but lots of rain, for example, makes me want to write gloomier, quieter things.
